A cramp is an involuntary muscle contraction that causes temporary pain and discomfort.

1️ Electrolyte imbalances (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium)
2️ Rapid or excessive dehydration
3️ Various medications, such as lipid-lowering drugs
4️ Low blood pressure during dialysis

 

Treatment

1.Control your weight during dialysis to not exceed 1 kilogram/day ️ to prevent excessive weight gain.

2.Inform the attending physician and nurse to adjust the initial treatment.

3.Massage the area where the muscle is tense or stretch the muscle that is cramping.

4.Use warm water or a warm gel pack to apply to the cramped muscles.

5. Medications etc L carnitine, vitamin E,Magnesium,quinine  consult your doctor before taking them.

6.Reduce your intake of salty foods to avoid thirst and keep the weight from being too much each time you dialysis.
